While protection against hospitalization is still strong, the vaccine offered almost no protection against infection, even just a month after full vaccination.
So, I have kids in both the 5-11 and the 12-15 age brackets. My oldest is at the bottom range of the growth chart, but got the adult dosage of the vaccine. My youngest is at the top of the growth chart and actually weighs more than my oldest. She got the child dosage of the vaccine. As a result, we were completely unsurprised when my youngest picked up Covid from school despite masking and vaccination. My oldest, also unsurprisingly, did not get sick. But she had worse symptoms from the vaccine.

For the record, my family is not celebrating Thanksgiving this year because my conservative parents contracted COVID and are under strict quarantine until a week or so after the holiday. (We weren’t planning to go, but still...)
